This is the image I am working with currently, I am playing with creating architecture out of the shapes in the images. I want to capture the beauty of the lightning in these ephemeral structures that seem to have a sense of grandeur to them, but only exist for a fraction of a second in real life.
I find this image to be really captivating and full of energy. Great start, I'm excited to see where it goes from here!
ReplyDeleteYou are successful in making the storms appear structural, and I enjoy the contrast between the background and the forms.
ReplyDeleteHi Miles
ReplyDeleteInteresting idea. Whenever you combine smoke/lightning/etc with architecture you almost always draw a comparison with 911, no? Maybe that would depend on the architecture? smoke/clouds/etc have such a beautiful random pattern about them, so visually these should have a lot of impact. What exactly are you trying to say? is it just pretty pictures? maybe it IS about 911? or not? Why combine the smoke with buildings? Are there other images you could combine that did not evoke such a visceral response to the national tragedy? or maybe that is what you are going for. right now, the smoke/cloud creates a nice structure that something else could play off of. repetition creates a nice pattern, but can be monotonous and competitive in terms of hierarchy.
